Descriptive Essay Slaughterhouse Five - 1442 Words

I thought this sentence really helped me to be able to vividly imagine what the leftovers of war might look like if I were actually there. The word slaughterhouse is mentioned in this sentence which leads me to believe that the things mentioned in this sentence may foreshadow the events leading up to one of the main topics of this book, where it takes place, and why it might have been named Slaughterhouse Five. I completely agree with this phrase in the book because wars are almost impossible to stop or avoid for many reasons. Everyone has their own opinions about a variety of things and this will always lead to conflict which leads to war. I like how the author used a simile to compare both glaciers and wars because both are very huge,†¦show more content†¦This passage that Celine, from Celine and His Vision, is speaking in helps to highlight all the hardships and painful experiences that soldiers faced in the war, such as all the casualties that were caused by the war. Just like the sentence mentions, many people are afraid of the future and what might happen next. The thought of not knowing about the future frightens them and this leads to people in a constant state of stage fright. The phrase, â€Å"So it goes†, seems to show up constantly to show how Kurt Vonnegut accepts all the tragedies in his life. This phrase tells us that we should accept tragedies in our life and be able to move on because life will always go on. I disagree with what is being said in this sentence about how moments are not significant. Personally, I think moments are very important and they last in your brain for a very very long time. They don’t just disappear like this sentence is saying. For example, going to college is a moment in your life, and that doesn’t just disappear because it is a significant moment in your life. Billy seems to see death as just a moment that will disappear and that there are other moments when people are totally fine. This shows that Billy doesn t think much about death and thinks that it is insignificant. The phrase, â€Å"so it goes†, seems to be sort of a catchphrase.
